I am over 75 years old
My name is Mitsuhiko Kawamata.
After retirement, I spent ten years playing at being a farmer on a property consisting of a 15000-square-meter estate and a field of approximately 5000 square meters. To share anecdotes from this experience and prevent boredom, I’ve decided to start a blog.
While engaging in activities on the estate and in the field, I’ve become aware of significant changes in the ecosystem, prompting me to categorize the blog into the following three sections:
- Rants about Ecosystem Changes
- Tasks in the Field
- Nature in the Estate Forest
Although this site may seem like a random whim, I would be delighted if you could accompany me on this journey. The site is named “Dacha Shose,” inspired by the resilience of Dachas (small cottages) that could withstand even the collapse of the Soviet Union. “Dacha” is a Russian term referring to a rural estate with a cottage.
Favorite Podcast

I spend a round trip of two hours from my home in Nagaoka to Dacha Shose in Niigata City listening to podcasts, mainly focused on agriculture.
NOUKANOTANE
・Making lazy home gardening possible with AI and drones, Utilizing the increasing abandoned farmland (Japan’s resources).
Dear Naturalist
・Achieving world peace and saving the Earth through home gardening.
Challenging Website Creation
I struggled with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP on YouTube, but it took too much time for a late-stage senior, so I switched to WordPress. Eventually, I found myself flowing effortlessly into Cocoon. Still, encountering the high-quality communication skills of younger individuals through platforms like YouTube and podcasts makes me optimistic about Japan’s future. Thank you very much.
