A month of near-body temperature days and no rain in September is hard on the creatures and the farmers.

Might Japanese rat snake be suffering from heat stroke, too?

 In past years, I have encountered snakes almost every day, but this summer I have not seen one. Snakes, whose body temperature depends on the outside temperature, have their metabolism disrupted and their activities restricted in high temperatures, and they are probably hiding in a burrow somewhere.
 I found a photo of Japanese rat snake in Inokashira Park wrapped around a frozen plastic bottle to cool its body. I thought snakes loved summer, but they seem to have a hard time in the intense heat.

There was a molt of a Japanese rat snake under the rim. It could surely be the master of this place.

The snake is said to be the god of money, but for all that, it does not save money.

Winter vegetables cannot be planted!

 Standard winter vegetables such as cabbage, Chinese cabbage, and radish have already been planted or sown, but they cannot be planted because there is no moisture at all in the soil in the fields. Although it is already late in the season, we are beginning to sprout cabbage and Chinese cabbage in anticipation of September rains.

I’m trying to wake up cabbage and Chinese cabbage seedlings, but it’s late and they may not tuberize before winter.

Soba also sparsely sprouted!

I sowed buckwheat seeds in the Bon Festival, and they sprouted in the shade, but not in the sunny area. Due to the low rainfall and intense heat, the shade seems to be comfortable for buckwheat this year.
