The aroma of herbs is at its peak right now!

farming

 Pak choy, lavender, mint, and rosemary release volatile chemicals into the air and there is a strong aroma all around. Unlike vegetables, these are tough and not half as fertile, and nearby vegetables seem to stop growing. Insects are also not attracted near these herbs. It is probably a survival strategy to keep others away with their strong smells (chemicals).

Only the flowers smell sweet and bees come to suck the nectar. It is a higher tactic for survival.
(Insects and plants seem to communicate through volatile chemistry.)

Anyway, herbs are energetic in this season. They should be used to get through this hot and humid rainy season.

Now energetic herbs (lavender, pak choi, mint)

<lavender>

This is the second summer since I planted the seedlings my second daughter gave me in a 15m x 4 rows (about 60m).
The scent of lavender is in the air.

The flower cutting process begins. Deliveries are made to people who love the scent of lavender.

<pak choi>

 When we arrived at the farm and got out of the car, the strong smell of pak choi was all around us. However, the ripe pak choi seeds (coriander seeds) have a sweet and refreshing aroma. Grinded seeds can be sprinkled on various dishes to change the taste. It seems to be good for the stomach.

It is time to harvest pak choi seeds.
The fully ripe seeds have a refreshing aroma that is unlike that of pak choi.

<mint>

Spearmint and peppermint are also very fertile and the area is expanding rapidly. The coolness of mint is Good during the gloomy rainy season.

The herbal tea blended with lavender is delicious.
Hacca. Menthol coolness.

Farm work in June was super busy!

Harvesting → (1) Peas (kinusaya, snack, green peas)
      (2) Fava beans
      (3) Onions
      (4) Garlic
I am happy about the harvest, but I am fed up with the continuous daily work. I think they enjoy the various tasks that they have been doing for the past six months with the thought of the harvest in mind.

Care for summer vegetables (tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, peppers), including erecting support poles and fertilizing

Farm work in the heat, whipping my old body. But still, the old farmer’s work was hard!
(Maybe that’s why I’ve been able to maintain my health?)
